(Last Updated: 6/24/2019)

Hazardous Waste. Free Drop-Off Disposal. Never put flammable items like road flares (also known as ground flares, highway flares, or fusees) in the garbage. Information listed here is for household items only. View business, non-profit, and agency information.

Disposal

Take unused road flares to the Kitsap County Household Hazardous Waste facility for free disposal.

Treat discharged road flares like fireworks: soak them in a bucket of water for at least 15 minutes, wrap them in plastic, then put them in your garbage. Dump leftover water on gravel or grass – not down a sink or storm drain where it could pollute groundwater, streams, or Puget Sound.

Marine flares are more dangerous and are considered explosive, so please follow these explosives disposal instructions
