When clothing and textiles are donated, they are first sorted. If they can be reworn, they are resold locally, domestically, or in other countries.
If they cannot be reworn, they are sold into the textiles recycling industry. End uses are rags for the automotive industry, carpet padding, insulation materials, raw fibers, and more.
Any Quality: These locations take any textile, as long as they're not water damaged or moldy. At county waste facilities, look for the "Arc of the Peninsulas" collection bin in the recycle areas.
Good Condition Only: The drop-off reuse locations below only accept quality "sellable" clothing . Nothing torn, ripped, stained, broken, or worn out. Call ahead to inquire about your specific item.
Put water-damaged or moldy textiles in the trash.
