Yard Waste

(Last Updated: 12/21/2018)

Yard waste must be free of any glass, metal, or plastic. These items ruin compost and put people at risk.

Most single-family homes can subscribe to curbside compost service for food scraps and yard waste. The service is around $8 a month. Learn more about curbside compost service.

Drop-off composting facilities accept clean yard waste for a fee. Contact these businesses directly to ask about fees, accepted items, and hours. Some facilities only accept wood waste, while others restrict items like grass.

Olympic View Transfer Station is the only county-owned facility that recycles yard waste. Bring yard waste separately from other waste to get the lower yard waste fee.  It's cheaper to recycle yard waste than to dispose of it as garbage. See fees and facility information.
