Wood Waste - Creosote Treated

Dimensional wood waste/lumber is solid wood, lumber, or pallets. Creosotes are a type of wood preservative. Railroad ties, utility poles, and pilings were once treated with this hazardous material.


Recycle

Creosote treated lumber cannot be recycled.

Disposal
Dispose as garbage. Wood must be cut into sections 8 feet in length or smaller.
 
Large amounts (over 3 cubic yards) must be taken to Olympic View Transfer Station. Call the facility at 360-674-2297 before visiting to dispose of creosote wood.
